Poem for the owner of the dog

The white dog
Sitting behind a wire gate
Clearly
He is loyal
As he barks at us
Trying to protect his home
Is he lonely?
But then
When I look
Into his eyes
They are full of wonder.

I bet his owner
Misses him terribly
While gone
I think his owner
Doesn’t want to leave him,
but work is always waiting.
I bet the dog
Misses the owner too.
And all of a sudden
I want to be home
with my dog.
